點解狗狗一日瞓咁多個鐘?

Why do dogs sleep for so many hours a day?

Your dog sleep like a pig? Have you noticed that dogs can "nap" anytime?

Are you envious of how dogs can sleep all the time? But once you understand why dogs sleep so much, you won't envy them anymore!

Because it's really boring

In the natural environment, dogs have to protect themselves, find water and food, safeguard their territory, and even seek mates to reproduce.
All these pet dogs don't have to worry about anything, and most of them are males. They don't even have their basic needs met, and besides sleeping, what else can they do?

Diseases

Hormonal imbalances, hypothyroidism, and other diseases can cause dogs to sleep more than usual. If the dog really sleeps all day and night, the owner might need to take the pet for a check-up!
Adult dogs sleep 12 to 14 hours a day, while puppies or elderly dogs sleep 16 to 18 hours a day.

Deep sleep time is short.

Actually, dogs spend very little time in deep sleep. Due to their protective mechanisms, they only enter deep sleep for a short period each time, so they can only rest intermittently. That's why they often close their eyes and rest when they're bored.

Dogs are like that, so they need to sleep all the time. So, owners shouldn't be too envious, you wouldn't want to wake up and fall asleep every night either!
