狗狗椎間盤病

Dog intervertebral disc disease

Dog intervertebral disc disease, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and limping can all be symptoms.

Dogs can't tell you when they're hurt, so you need to pay attention to their body language to know if it's a muscle strain, sprain, or something more serious like intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

What is IVDD?

In simple terms, IVDD is when the intervertebral disc material moves into the spinal cord, causing spinal cord compression.

And IVDD is classified into types, with type I and type II being the more common ones.

Type I: More commonly found in dogs with chondrodystrophy, such as Dachshunds or Corgis.

Type II: Any dog can potentially develop it.

Additionally, overweight and older dogs are more prone to IVDD disc disease.

Symptoms

  • Weakness or difficulty in limbs
